About Sylvan Marine
Sylvan has it's roots in a small town in Indiana named Wolcottville. The plant was located near Sylvan lake and began producing pontoon boats and small house boats in the late 1940's under the name of Sylvan Industries. It's founder, John Cripe managed a prospering business until he made the decsion to sell in 1965. The new owner, John Graff changed the company name to Sylvan Marine at the time of purchase. Over the next several years Mr.Graff continued to refine the style of the boats being produced and to improve manufacturing processes. This cycle of improvement helped to fuel the spiraling growth of the company. In the early 70's the company passed hands once again when Harold Schrock purchased the company from his grandson John Graff. In 1975 Sylvan started producing aluminum fishing boats and runabouts to extend their line of pontoon boats. Over the years through leading edge innovations, sound manufacturing principals, a true commitment to meet the needs of it's customers and strict attention to detail, Sylvan has emerged as a leader in the boating industry.
